NYFW - Essentials F/W 21/22
Coming one year since the Covid-19 pandemic hit most of the world, the fall/winter 21/22 collections offered a sense of what fashion will look like once normal life picks back up again. Comfort, the key word of 2020, will continue to shape the industry, embedded in every product category you could think of, including refreshed tailoring – another major trend for the season. Despite everything, the desire to dress up again will shape the collections in F/W 21/22. Sensuality and embellishment are making a comeback, seen as a key direction at the runways.
With Romantic references, a more modest look brings conservative scenes back to fashion. Elaborate collars and square necklines, A-silhouettes with tiered or flounced skirts, medium and elongated lengths, puffed sleeves and floral prints amplified the Romantic message.
Designers at NYFW took craft as a primary inspiration, mixing artisanal techniques with contemporary design. This time, a more colorful approach gave a fresher spin to the designs.
